Arnnav and Apurva – Today we learned about empirical and molecular formulas which Aarav is scheduled to learn on Tuesday. Aarav did great and got all the questions right. Monday we will do a review of nomenclature. I think we should also do a review of Lewis structures next week.

- Spruha was engaged, with her camera and mic on. She answered all of my questions and was willing to explain her thought process
- Was able to identify what she knew vs didn't know
--> had not heard of different types of covalent types, VSPER, moles
--> knew different reaction types, could balance equations, some principles of period trends
- said she was neutral with chemistry, didn't love math; tried to walk through STP relationships to familiarize herself with how to manipulate equations + laws
- Seemed to understand and asked some great questions!

Today we reviewed Aarav's lab that he will complete tomorrow, then we practiced significant figures and ended with some moles/molar mass/mass questions. Aarav's schedule for next week is: Nov 10: moles test Nov 11: empirical and molecular formulas Nov 12: lab prep Nov 13: lab Nov 14: work period? Tomorrow we will work on empirical and molecular formulas which I have content for. For next week, Aarav would like to review nomenclature from earlier in the year, so a worksheet of many questions and solutions would be helpful (ionic and molecular, plus maybe some more advanced questions). The only thing he is learning new next week is empirical and molecular formulas which we will do tomorrow, so we will use other sessions to refine previous knowledge and and perhaps look at more advanced questions and concepts (worksheets and lessons plan would be helpful).

Today we worked on calculations involving mass, molar mass, moles, number of particles, and Avogadro's number. Aarav got all the questions right and did very well. He struggled a bit with significant figures though, so tomorrow we will do some work with significant figures and he has also asked to go over a lab that he is doing Friday (he posted it in pencil spaces for me to review beforehand). Monday he has a quiz on moles, but he doesn't have his schedule past that.

In today's session, we worked on double displacement reactions and solubility, decomposition of metal carbonates, metal oxides + water, and nonmetal oxides + water

Today we reviewed the metal activity series and acidic/basic oxides using my premade content. We did many practice questions and at the end Aarav had a good understanding of both. Next week Aarav's schedule is Monday - balancing and activity series practice Tuesday - take up last two lessons Wednesday - lab (decomposition, oxides, predicting products) Thursday - double displacement/solubility Friday - double displacement lab Aarav's goal is to get ahead on his lessons so Monday we decided we will work on solubility. One class will be more than enough for that, Aarav catches on very quick. Lesson plans and questions for the other lessons would be helpful, as well as lessons for next topics too.

Tomorrow Aarav starts a new unit which is chemical reactions. He asked to go through two of his teachers slideshows that were posted. The slideshows were about synthesis, decomposition, combustion, single, and double displacement reactions. For the last 30 min, we worked on balancing and categorizing equations. Tomorrow, we will go through the metal activity series along with oxyacids and bases.

Today we covered metallic bonding. Aarav did very well. He understands the concepts of metallic bonding really well and is able to apply that knowledge to explain physical and chemical properties of metals.

Aarav has an electronegativity lab on Wednesday and his teacher asked him to review electronegativity so that's what we focused on in our session. Aarav had good understanding of polarity and calculating electronegativity by the end of our session.

Ana did very good. We reviewed her teacher's notes for the circulatory system in preparation for her test on Monday. After our session, Ana had a very good understanding of the circulatory system. I advised her to rewrite her diagrams and pathways as practice.

In our session, we covered all the points in the respiratory systems on the handout from Ana's teacher. Ana had missed some notes due to being absent, so we filled in what was missing and did a general review to strengthen her knowledge. Ana did very well in the session and had a good understanding of the respiratory at the end of the session. For homework, Ana should review equations and diagrams (cellular respiration equation, inhale/exhale process, etc).
