Tutor Evaluation Test (Mathematics & Physics)

Welcome! This is a subject-mastery and teaching-readiness test for shortlisted tutor applicants.

Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding.

Important Guidelines

  • Find a quiet space and ensure a stable internet connection before you begin.

  • You cannot restart the test after clicking "Start".

  • Do not refresh or leave the page—doing so may result in loss of progress.

  • You will not be able to edit your answers once the test is submitted.

  • Plagiarism, copied content, or suspicious behavior will disqualify your application.

How It Works

  • You will have exactly 90 minutes to complete the test.

  • Once you click the “Start Test” button below:

    • The test and the timer will begin.

    • If you finish early, click the Submit button to end the test.

    • If the timer reaches 00:00, your answers will be locked. But you will have time to fill out your personal information, so utilize the time efficiently.

    • After the test ends, either automatically or manually, you should see a confirmation, and the site will redirect to your browser's home page.

  • You will be able to attempt the test only once. If you try to reattempt, you will be disqualified.

Things to Remember:

  • You may not be able to answer all the questions. Try to attempt as many questions as you can based on your strengths. The aim is to understand your areas of strength and your time management skills.

  • For MCQs, select the correct options. You can change it as long as time permits.

  • For “Explain reasoning” questions, provide a brief conceptual explanation (no full derivations required).

Click the “Start Test” button when you're ready.

2. A ball is thrown vertically upwards. At the highest point:
3. A ball is projected vertically upward with an initial velocity of 𝑢 = 65 m/s. How long does it take for the ball to reach a velocity of 𝑣 = 36 m/s on its way up? (Consider 𝑔 = 9.8 m/s²).
4. A light wave of wavelength 600 nm passes from air into glass with refractive index 1.5. What is its wavelength inside the glass?
5. An astronaut in space throws a wrench forward. What happens to the astronaut?
6. A 0.4 kg block of copper (𝑐 = 390 J/kg.K) at 100°C is immersed in 0.5 kg of water at 20°C (𝑐 = 4180 J/kg.K). Assuming no heat loss to the surroundings, what is the final temperature of the system in °C?
7. A 0.5 kg ball moving at 4 m/s collides elastically with a stationary 1 kg ball. What is the velocity of the 0.5 kg ball after collision?
8. A radioactive substance has half-life 5 hours. If the initial mass is 80 g, how much remains after 15 hours?
9. Two identical charged spheres repel each other with force F at distance d. If distance is doubled, force becomes:
10. Which of the following is a scalar quantity?
11. Four resistors are connected as follows: R₁ = 6 Ω and R₂ = 12 Ω are connected in parallel, and R₃ = 4 Ω and R₄ = 8 Ω are connected in parallel. The two parallel combinations are then connected in series. What is the total equivalent resistance of the circuit?
12. A rectangular loop of area 0.05 m² lies in a magnetic field decreasing at 0.2 T/s. The loop has resistance 2 Ω. What is the induced current?
13. If a wave has frequency 200 Hz and wavelength 2 m, what is its speed?
14. Which type of wave requires a medium to propagate?
15. A 2.0 kg skateboarder moves down a frictionless ramp from a height of 5.0 m. Assuming all potential energy converts to kinetic energy at the bottom, what is the skateboarder’s speed?
